FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022

RWS Global produced the Sport Presentation Programme for the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Sydney (Australia), the flagship women’s competition and one of the most prestigious competitions in international basketball.

12 of basketball’s powerhouse nations across Africa, Americas, Asia & Oceania and Europe played 38 games across 10 days with a primary focus on fan engagement and crowd participation.

Intertwining First Nation culture and ceremony along with a dynamic Sport Presentation Strategy, the event was a feather in our cap as we were responsible for the entire delivery including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as the entire Sport Presentation Programme.

With the Sport Presentation Programme being a particular focus, we worked closely with FIBA to develop a “Fan Engagement App” that complemented their existing FIBA Tournament App, with the prime objective of elevating the fan experience throughout the tournament. With the ability to take tournament branded photos that fed to the stadium’s big screens, as well as participate in crowd activities like stadium light shows and event fan voting to choose such things as music played, the Fan Engagement App was a resounding success with more than a million votes cast and thousands of photos taken and shared.

With seamless integration through our proprietary PV4 system, RWS Global also provided a stylishly FIBA branded and vibrant suite of content, stats and graphics providing a real “WOW Factor” to the event. Our in-house technology team designed a custom-built playback system that allowed us to centrally-manage and distribute content via a cloud-based file syncing system, deploying rapidly remote updates of vision, stats and graphics on-demand.

RWS Global were able to meet our goal of ensuring the delivery of this tournament was truly world-class.

Attendance grew throughout the tournament to hit record crowds, including a sold out crowd of 15,895 at the final.
