We’re looking for electric bassists with rock-solid time, groove and high-energy stage presence.  Candidates must perform iconic basslines, note for note, from James Jamerson, Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Carol Kaye and more!  You must be comfortable and experienced with performing all styles of popular music including, but not limited to Rock, Pop, R&B, and Country.  Reading music is not required for this gig.

Submission Video Instructions:  All takes should be edited together into one single video. Please link the video in the appropriate space in the form on the right.

Video Introduction- Record a video introduction detailing who you are. Let us know how long you’ve been singing, any notable teachers you’ve studied with, who your favorite singer is, etc.  This is your opportunity to show us your personality!

Prescreen selections- All selections should be played note-for-note from the original recordings.  Make sure to use the correct bass tone and technique for each selection.  You may play along with backing tracks or the original recording.  If using the original recording, make sure your part is heard over the track.

  1. Play James Jamerson’s bassline from “What’s Going On?” by Marvin Gaye.  Play the entire song.
  2. Play Duff McKagen’s bassline (0:15-1:48) from “Sweet Child O Mine” by Guns n’ Roses.
  3. Play David Shields’ bassline (0:00-2:40) from “Got to Be Real” by Cheryl Lynn
  4. Play Marcus Miller’s bassline (0:20-2:20) from “Just the Two of Us” by Grover Washington Jr. feat Bill Withers
  5. Play Nathan East’s bassline from “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins.  Play the entire song.
  6. Play Francis Rocco Prestia’s bassline from “What is Hip?” by Tower of Power.  Play the entire song.
