RWS Global is seeking Choreographers for an exciting upcoming project in Houston, TX.
Choreographer Scope: Working closely with the Director, performers and broader creative team, the Choreographer is responsible for shaping the physical storytelling of the assigned piece and ensuring consistency and clarity in all choreographic components from rehearsal through performance.
Usage Rights: Choreography created for this project will be used exclusively during the contracted run of the show and will not be restaged or recreated for any other event or production.
Management Support: During rehearsals, the Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) and Stage Manager (SM) will support the Choreographer as needed with documenting blocking, choreography notes and key creative discussions. They will also assist in communicating any updates or concerns that require escalation to leadership, and will provide timely feedback and collaborative solutions.
Creative Direction:
- Design choreography that aligns with the artistic vision and goals of the production.
- Collaborate with the Director and other creatives to integrate movement with the overall narrative, music, and staging leaning into the varying strengths of cast members.
Leadership:
- Lead rehearsals with professionalism and clarity, fostering a supportive and focused environment for all performers.
- Provide guidance and support to performers as needed to help them achieve confidence and precision in the choreography.
Logistics:
- Coordinate with Stage Management to ensure choreographic elements are well-integrated into technical rehearsals and cueing.
- Share updates with the Creative Director, SM, and ASM to maintain alignment and transparency.
- Participate in production meetings and provide updates on choreography progress should it be needed.
Deliverables:
- 12-minute ensemble movement piece with 8 dancers
- 5 minutes of transition in and out of the choreographed piece.
