Job Description: Immersive Experience Assistant Stage Manager

  • Training: October 9th & 10th
  • Set up & Rehearsal: November 2nd & 3rd, 4th – 8th, 10th – 14th, 15th & 16th, 18th – 20th
  • Show Dates: November 21st – 23rd, 28th – 30th, December 5th – 7th, 12th – 14th, 19th – 28th, 31st – January 7th

About

The Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) plays a vital support role in the successful execution of a production, working closely with the Stage Manager and the wider creative team. The ASM helps ensure that all rehearsal and performance elements are effectively coordinated, contributing to the smooth operation of the production from behind the scenes.

Responsibilities

  • Daily rehearsal space preparation and reset.
  • Documentation, including blocking notes and character-specific direction as given by the Show Director.
  • Support in writing of daily rehearsal reports for SM to send to General Managers and Show Directors.
  • Serve as liaison between the Stage Manager and performers.
  • Collaborate with Stage Manager to determine and distribute daily cast reports via email, summarizing updates, notes, and calls.
  • Support in maintaining and updating the Run of Show throughout the rehearsal period, including integration of cues, blocking, and performance notes.
  • Execute live performances by calling assigned technical cues (lighting and sound) using a radio system shared with SM.
  • Supervise all backstage operations and ensure smooth scene transitions.
  • Monitor and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Oversee maintenance and reset of props and set pieces post-show.
  • Ensure proper costume care and maintenance according to the costume care guide.
  • Deliver timely “calls” to cast and crew to ensure punctuality and readiness.
  • Document and report all personnel or operational issues to the Production Director, Show Director, or Creative Director as appropriate.
